1.4.6-1.4.5 problem....help?

So a long time ago, I tried to rollback from 1.4.6 to 1.4.5 following the instructions on this site. But when I went to open it, I would log in and it would load. Or at least, it was supposed to. It told me it was done loading, yet it would not open. I let it sit for.....at least 30 minutes and yet it would not load. :mad:
Today I followed the instructions to switch back to 1.4.6 and tried reopening it. And yet it didn't help.
I did notice that to re-upgrade it told me to rename one 1.4.5 and one minecraft.jar, but there was only one folder which I renamed in the first place. Was this my problem? And how do i fix it? :confused: Help!!! :eek:
 
When you open the minecraft launcher, before you login press the 'Options' button.
This will open a menu, in this menu press 'Force update!' and that will update your client to the latest version which is 1.4.6 after you login.
