OK, tested on another computer with a different ISP and I'm sorry to say.... exactly the same problem.

I feel that this places the problem with the Addicts server and our profiles.

Mmm, I would normally tend to agree, however if I can use any other Canadian site no problems and I cannot get rid of lag by using another computer and ISP what possible alternative is there?

Well from your tracert the problem is somewhere in the middle before the conenction has reached MCA.
Did you post another tracert for the other server you tested. Also are you experiencing any lag when connecting to this website as it is hosted at the same place but on a different server.

I'll have a look around on the server but it doesn't seem that it should be causing any issues unless you have been blacklisted somewhere. I'll have a word with MrJangles.

Hi Alien, Yes I did do a tracert to other Canadian sites and had the same ms results, however I experience no lag on those sites.

I don't experience any lag on this forum.

NOTE: We only experience massive lag when digging, and only after about 6 blocks have been dug. Then we could wait for easily 5 minutes before we can dig again, in that spot.

this is most definitely an ISP routing issue. theres 2 points where your ping jumps. one is within the telstraglobabl network, hop 7 to hop 8, and the second is when you go from the telstraglobal network to PaloAlto's network - hops 9 to 11. to be honest, theres nothing that you can do other than change ISPs, and even that might not fix it.

Ive run into this exact same issue at work with some of our clients that use Citrix to log into their home servers from places like Pheonix and Dallas.

the other fix would be for the ISPs themselves to do a network upgrade, which would cost them tens of thousands of dollars.

the reason that you started noticing the lag recently, is probably because either Telstraglobal or PaloAlto did a infrastructure upgrade or downgrade. or that Telstra switched to the PaloAlto network from something else.

Most definitely an ISP routing issue.

solution for digging: hire other people to do it for you?

Sad, so sad indeed. So much work, so many hours and so many friends .... LOST.

I personally think there is a ghost haunting your ISP. Contact ghost busters plz

Go and bash you ISP. Could be that they are blocking the MCA server. Try calling them yet?

Call them again and explain that like Australia, Canada isn't a third world country and that a switched packet shouldn't take a quarter second to go back and forth.

Ok, so I suddenly have no lag, but I changed nothing, even the tracert is basically the same figures.

This happened a few month ago as well, quite good, horrible lag then good again.

Who knows.

Thank you all for your efforts to help and we will monitor the situation.

suggestions:
go into properties of the minecraft and tick run as administrator
back up the whole .minecraft folder then delete it from %appdata% repatch your game
either downgrade your java or update it it MUST either be the last java 6 update (i think 28) or jave update 3 (NOT 4! it is the one suggested on minecraft forums)
go into your firewall and make sure that java SE binary is ticked on the list of exeptions

pm me of the result

goodluck

regards

But Pivot, I did nothing and it's fixed itself. All is good now.

so um jeff
yeah i called up your interwebz provider and talked it out with em
they fixed it up :D
soooooooo
my 5k? :P

Great news, come around to pick it up, I'm usually home after 6pm.

If it fixed itself, it points more and more to a routing issue.

Enjoy the lag-free weeks you'll have.
