Well, it is now official that the infamous Notch has stepped down from being lead developer of Minecraft.

[h=2]Och med dom orden så passar jag micken.[/h]
As of yesterday, Jens Bergensten is the new lead developer on Minecraft. He will have the final say in all design decisions, so he will kinda sorta become my boss, I guess. I’ve promised him to not pull rank. ;)
We’ve been working together on Minecraft for a year now, and I’m amazed at how much in synch we two are when it comes to how to design the game. And when we don’t agree, we discuss it and something much better comes out at a result. He’s truly a great person to work with, and I feel very confident handing over the leadership of Minecraft to him.
If you want to contact Jens, he’s on twitter as @jeb_, or you can email him at jeb@mojang.com

Personally, I will now rest for a while, then get back to work refreshed and eager. I’ll be helping out with Minecraft, of course, but also starting work on some new project.

For all of you that do not know jeb or have even heard of him, he has been one of the main coders behind the 1.8 and 1.9 PRE-releases. Jeb was hired for Mojang to be the back end developer for minecraft, but now has been "promoted" to lead developer of minecraft. I think change is better and to see someone who is favorable for the mod community which will be a interesting road map for the future of minecraft.

_Jeb's response...

Until January I will be the only developer on Minecraft, so things will have to be slow initially. But my absolute main priority now is to create a mod API, because there is no way in hell I will be able to add as much content as the whole internet can do. The game needs an API, so end users can obtain the mods without hassle. I'm not going to do it all by myself though. We have a new programmer beginning in January, and we are talking to existing mod API teams, such as Bukkit, Minecraft Forge, and Minecraft Coder Pack.

one word... finnally. maybe we can get more real work done on this game and not go all crazy left side right side im a drunk driver style game build?

I'm going to have to agree with commander on this one. I think jeb will do a much better job than notch at this point.

To be honest i think notch takes too many breaks (thats just me). I think minecraft will have a lot more content and minecraft getting mod support will be awesome!
