What is the progress on the highway south of the spawn?

The reason I am asking is if it would be possible to extend the route further south? I would like to potentially connect my land with a subway station to the highway which is not that far off if it is extended in its current direction.

Would I be able to extend the highway in its current direction and possibly improve it? I am all about improving the server and making it better for all users.
