Agro Mobs

So the past couple of days there's been a lack of agro mobs in the outlands. Once I came across a zombie, but they're nowhere to be found.

I know that multiple people in outlands, diff locations can cause this to happen... but even with a bare server there seems to be no mobs spawning... Admins suggested searching around cuz they're possibly spawning in caves or just somewhere else... well outlands is huge, and running around with F3 on has produced no results.

Maybe you guys can look into this further?? Or maybe it's just my luck.

I think this is due to the limit of mobs on the server at any point. Maybe a change to this number is in order

Just wondering, does this limit include the friendly mobs within regions?

Or are friendly and agro treated as separate entities?

friendly and agressive mobs both add to the max amount of mobs in a server

but u can only have about 20 freindly mobs in ssp i dont know whit smp but if so freindly dont make much difference.
but maybe they also spawn in regoins the code of minecraft but a plugin makes them despawn very fast and that alters spawns?
but since the plugins let them despawn code still counts them

maybe its that ?

We do not limit the total number of mobs on the server, but we DO limit the number of active hostile mobs (which should be refreshed every 20 seconds). We've had issues with a pile of hostile mobs being spawned beyond the borders, so it may be a similar situation. I'll slaughter some mobs from the console today and see if it has any effect.
