I see no reason we shouldn't designate a public mining island in the new generated terrain and allow a warp to it, with a sign note near the spawn.
Rules draft:
* No building in the mining area, except for traversing the mine as necessary. (i.e. ladders, but no minecarts)
* No territorial claims to any part of the mine. Your shaft is everyone's shaft.
* Exposed resources are first come first serve, unless someone is actively mining the immediate area. If you want it, mine it. If you leave it, hope it's still there when you get back.
* If you uncover a Void hole, plug it with a cobblestone and stick a torch on top of it.
Other ideas?
I hate math.Sounds like strip mining to me ;-).
If we want to keep the visibility down we could use my idea for an underwater cavern, I've already started laying glass down in a 64x64 area by my island. This would probably fit the bill. I was hoping for a huge underground/underwater cavern with a glass ceiling.
Say 85% per layer is block that gives us 3482 blocks per layer and its around 43 blocks deep. So we're talking around 150k bricks all told. That big enough?
Your shaft is everyone's shaft.
Sounds like a great idea.
hey now...
