Can we have a clarification on the rule. Are animals within the boundaries of a landclaim the property of the owner? If you have a cow farm, can somone come along and kill all your cows? If you have a tamed wolf, can a visiter kill it, on your land? How about wild animals roaming your land that you want to leave free, as part of the view or effect? I know there is nothing physically stopping people killing them, but is it classed as griefing if you want to keep them? Ive a stocked petshop in my city of Dalaran, and i would be pi**ed if i logged on to find them gone and a few porkchops left in their place.

I dont know what the official ruling is on that; but since you cant stop anyone from doing it, keep your farm animal in a 2 high fence so people cant hit them from out side. I keep my wolf on my land in build in a small box made out of fences with a roof so he wont be killed.

Its really hard to rule on this.

Since before we had breeding we had random spawning animals that was fine. But yes it could be griefing but we have no way of enforceing or finding out who killed a cow. Its a grey area that gets a blind eye turned to mainly cause there's really no way to prevent it.

Also try not to let breeding get out of hand as it can cause additional strain on the server. Keep your farms within reason.

I really hate breeding. I miss the old way of spawning and de-spawning which got rid of the abuse of animal breeding.

I believe that if there is no sign up and if it seems that the animals are not in a fenced or walled in area it should be fine to kill but I am not one to make that decision.

Great questions, but hard to answer because this isn't easy to manage. I would like to rule that animals that roam on your land are yours, but we can't control it so there's no rule right now. I've never actually looked for a plugin that can detect animals on your land and protect them. That would help. I'll keep an eye out.

Although this is a sensible idea to protects peoples 'breeding stock' but what happens if the following situation occurs:

(I will use my land claim as an example) I have a number of neighbours in the historic world and now most of them have either moved to the build world or left mca for an extended period of time. (this could be for the build world too but I don't have an example in that world). If I play a lot in my area and kill all the animals in my area some of them will re-spawn in my area but a number will spawn in my neighbours areas. This will mean I get an exponential decrease of animals if I just kill them!

Just another side of the animal protection that you might want to consider!

You, on the other hand should consider using wheat to breed em.

More breeding means more killing!!

But I on the other hand did try to get pairs for breeding but in the end I had to go into my neighbours land where there was tons of animals and I still don't have the full sets!
