Hey all, I have started working and making models in Blender and was wondering how, if any, there was a way that I could transform it into blocks. I want to try some natural building in game but I'm not great at planing it out, so just wanted to pick your brains on how to do this.
thanks,

So...
You want to convert a 3d model into minecraft? Or just blocks in blender?

Convert a 3d model from blender into minecraft so that i may replicate it on the server.

I dont think you can, apart from just looking at it and building

Yeah I don't think it's possible bobcat, I believe there's a plugin for Blender that will allow you to open your Minecraft world in Blender but I don't think there's one to do the opposite.

There are some useful links in there
But I believe what all models do is voxelize it first (make cubes of the 3d model) and then export it as a file that can be opened in mcedit
probably doesn't filter colors for different kinds of blocks
but it could be working

There are tools to go from 3d model to something else, then another tool to convert that something else into a schematic.

The thing is, I don't remember the names of the tools, all I remember is that it supports a little number of file formats.

EDIT: One tool I was referring to is obj2mc

Took me like 5 minutes of searching, and I found this:
Obj2mc

(Quick download link)

This is a gui version of binvox that converts VRML, UG, OBJ, OFF, DXF, XGL, POV, BREP, PLY, and JOT into .schematic for MCEdit.

Enjoy.

How to use:
1.Get an OBJ file you would like to convert.
2.Open up obj2mc and click on the “…” button.
3.Find your OBJ file and then open.
4.Change any options you wish and then hit convert.
5.Open up MCEdit
6.Open your map and click on import.
7.Save
8.Load MC

binvox and viewvox, http://www.patrickmin.com/minecraft/

Thats what I use when i am building, be sure you set your height though, gives you a general idea how tall the object will be on the Z axis.

EDIT: wow that otherone eliminates the console commands sweet!

This is great, thanks all for your help. Minecraft just keeps getting better!
