I am sure I am not the only one who thought of this but there should be a month hunger games for each region in the new build world. One region will be picked randomly along with one random member from that region. I can type up a program from that and handle the random picking and stuff. Anyways, the region that is picked must build a arena in a designated spot possibly in survival or in build. In survival the arena must be protected somehow and in build PvP must be turned on for that time or something like that. There will be a battle between each of the one person that has been randomly picked. The last man standing will eventually win.

Tell me what you think and if this happens I can write up that program for the random selection.

I'd keep the PvP'ing in survival, in a dedicated arena.
I like the idea of a few chosen (even randomly) ones battling it out. It makes it so the team from one region can come from different factions, it adds, in my opinion, a twist.

The problem we have with timed events in an international community is a shared timeslot for the game to be held where you have the most people.

I haven't read the book (yet) but aren't hunger games played for quite a while?

Would it be something like no food, no armor and no tools, only a sword, last man/team standing?

I was thinking about hidden chests with armor and food. The chosen people start with a diamond sword. I read the book a while ago but I am changing it a bit to fit it in a minecraft server. There will be a spawn point about 50 blocks away from the other spawn area. The time would be set before and if someone can't make up there will be another person randomly picked and it will keep on going on until someone can play.

Haven't gotten much feed back. May scrap the idea unless I somehow find out a way to do this. Can anyone help me?

That sounds great. I love it, and I wish I'd thought of it. We'd have to include a Cornucopia with various supplies near the start point, so people can run for the best head start and stuff, like in the books. The chests there could each have only a random few things in them (like the numbered backpacks) and some of them have random junk, some have building materials to make a shelter, and some have armor or weapons or tools. Although, the arenas would have to be in a small Capitol region, instead of in any particular region. But yes, the hidden stuff idea is good. Also, maybe they could all have a pickaxe and axe to start, and they can use them to kill the other people who are busy opening chests at the start.
Just a few ideas. This would be sweet. I love it. Maybe we could even have it recorded from different points, and then the battles posted on a thread the next day so people can watch it. That, or at least have a flying admin to take screenshots while staying out of harm's way.
You should see if you can get a little more discussion on this; I bet there's lots of people who've read the books and would have ideas. We can do this!

The idea doesn't need to be scrapped. It needs to be shelved for later use.

It seems the admins and mods have personal lives besides the server.

It's not because an idea isn't immediately implemented that it's not worth consideration.

Cool story so do I.

It's not because an idea isn't immediately implemented that it's not worth consideration.

I didn't say that it was not implemented therefore I am scrapping the idea, I said that there was no feedback and if no one leaves feedback whats the point of implementing it in the game?

I had a similar suggestion a while ago, too. We could combine the two a bit, maybe.
Not digging the thread up now, as I gotta leave in a sec.
