Changing Minecraft Username

I suggest that we consider a plugin that allows for aliases or nicknames on the server. Ive wanted to change my Minecraft username for some time now, but at the moment, there's no was to change it, apart from a Bukkit Plugin that gives you a nickname. In my situation, I'd like my MC name to be Jeff1741 (which is my forum name, gamer tag, ect.) Currently I'm StevenJeffLogin, which leads to people calling me Steven, even though my name is Jeff
Now, all I'm wondering is if anyone else is in the same boat. Is there anyone else who would like to change their username but can't? I say that we see if there are others, and possibly consider it for 1.8.

We already have a plugin that can give you a nick name, its built into essentials. It would get confusing as to who the person's real minecraft name is. It would just be easier to have the same name as the one you chose when you bought minecraft.

I mentioned that in a PM to Yen, but he didn't confirm that we use Essentials. For my case, I don't see that as being too confusing.
 
maybe it can be used on a per-case basis. Like someone in Jeff's position can request to use an alias.
 
I've never heard that we had that plugin, but I don't think that will be possible. If anything a post like this will get your forum name changed to match your minecraft name. Saves confusion all around.
 
It would only be possible to make your name in chat appear different through a plugin unfortunately.
 
We discussed the possibility of allowing people to use aliases, but decided against it for a multitude of reasons. You can't simply allow one person to use an alias and not another person, and if we allow everyone to use them we're just asking for troll/idiot fest. Chalk it up to "Sorry, you should have picked a better MC username."

And I didn't choose my MC name, my brother did. If I had been able to choose it, I would have picked one I liked.

I see where he's coming from, but no. It doesn't mean account sharing. I kicked my brother off our account when I joined this server, so it's just me using it.
