As promised, we are ready to move forward with plans to build our official spleef arena. Instead using one of the existing builds, we thought it would be cool if we gave the community an opportunity to showcase their skills with a design/build contest.
Godspeedz has graciously donated land on his claim in Cove to be the location for future official server games/tournaments (including the use of his MAMMOTH Colosseum for PVP).
If you've been living under a rock and do not know where I'm talking about, look here: http://www.minecraftaddicts.com/map/map.html?zoom=4#/-1613/64/-1403/-4/mcmapNormal
Now, about that contest...
If you think you've got what it takes to design a spleef arena that will not only blow the minds of the admin team, but your peers as well, then here is what you need to know:
1) A blog entry containing a detailed design/plan must be posted by Tuesday, August 23rd @ 11:59PM EST (1 week from today). The blog title must include your name and "Official Spleef Complex Design Submission" so that we can easily identify the candidates.
2) There are no mandatory guidelines for the method of design/planning, but it should be known that the administrative team (Mods+) will be selecting 4 designs from among the submissions to be voted on by the general public. The more details/drawings/blueprints/etc. you supply, the better your chance at shining through the competition.
3) Anyone may enter a design, but only one design may be entered per person (and only one person per design). If a member of the administrative team decides to participate, they will not be among the panel of judges by whom the 4 designs are selected.
4) The plot on which this complex will ultimately be built is 200x200 blocks. You are not required to use ALL of the available space, but you may not use MORE than what is allotted.
5) There are no design regulations apart from the fact that it must contain at least 1 Spleef area (hence the SPLEEF part). Be creative! Think big picture! This is going to be The OFFICIAL Minecraft Addicts Spleef Complex, after all.
NOTES:
WTF IS SPLEEF?
To create a blog, GO HERE and click the "+Create New Post" button in the top right-hand corner. You can also find a link to the blogs section from our main forums page. Everyone should have access to this feature. If you have any trouble with it, please let us know!
Blogs are moderated, which means that they will not be published until they are approved by a moderator. This means that you can work on your design/entry over the next week (edit/save) and it will not be visible to the general public until the contest end date, even if you "Post" it (though we suggest you use the "Save Draft" feature to be sure). If you wish to edit your entry after you have posted it (up until the closing date), simply open the blog entry, point at the title and click the pencil icon that appears next to it.
The contest winner, as judged by the Minecraft Addicts community, will earn the right to put their design to work in a Follow My Build thread, and will go down in Minecraft Addicts history FOREVER! More details regarding the build process will follow the initial contest stages.
We retain the right to modify/append the rules and regulations at any time during this contest (just in case I've forgotten something). Check this thread regularly for EDITS.
