Dalaran

My next project will be the floating Wizard city of Dalaran from the (love it or hate it) game, World of Warcraft. After a long and frustrating search of the regions for a free space big enough, i finally got the go ahead to use a little known area of Tundra. (My thanks to Astraeasan). My plan is to update this thread every Monday to give you an idea of my work in progress. Here is a rough plan( good old squared paper and pencil is best) and a model of how i hope the finished city will look:

Dalaran has a lot of tall towers. If i have it high in the sky, i'm going to reach my upper limit before i even start the towers. To get over this, the city will float over a Grand Canyon-type chasm that needs to be built. The city ground level will infact be about 4/5 blocks below sea level. This way, i get better views of it and also better access options. The city diameter will be around 150 blocks and the "chasm" will extend a further 100/150 blocks on each side. This may take some time to build!
Here is the first 2 days of work. I've started building from the dead center of the city and the center of the land claim. (That way i know i wont run out of space.)

Day 3 to 9

I have spent the first full week setting out the various buildings. I've used 3 types of building material for this. Cobble is used to mark out outside areas, Smooth slabs for interiors and sandstone for the building bases. Once all the buildings are set in place. i'll replace the different materials with the proper blocks.
