This is a build i've been thinking about for a long time, finally found one way to do it.

here are the steps:

go into a version with single player commands
http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic...er-commands-v49-official-download-spc-noclip/

the explosion is created with the //hsphere command, mixing more alternate materials as the spheres go outwards
eg, starting with the smallest sphere of only redwool, and by the last sphere mixing as many stone as possible with one purplewool

like: //hsphere <stone,stone,stone,stone,stone(etc, as many as chat will support..),purplewool> <21(radius in blocks)>

what the command does when you mix materials, is randomly place blocks from the list, so you get a sphere with a whole bunch of stone(or whatever) and bits of purplewool.

at the end, I just selected the whole area of the explosion, and did //replace stone air

above shows build method

this screen shows the schematica plan the guides the build.

Is the schematica plan some sort of overlay/mod that shows where to place the blocks? Or is this just a screen shot from your single player world?

it's an overlay that creates a plan from schematics.
I build in single player first, then make the schematic, then bring the plan to the server.

here is a link to schematica mod(not easy to install unfortunately):

a fun thing with schematica, is that two players can set up the same schematic, then build together at the same time.
