As some people may know, there is a way to give members in factions titles that will be added in front of their name in faction chat. This is quite helpful when organising "ranks" or something like that in your factions and I was wondering why it is disabled...

I'm assuming because its going to cause chaos when u see the names in chat

but it would clutter up the f who commands for factions because it would be a paragraph long with all the titles

Plus, people might take advantage of it and put super long, or obnoxious, or even inappropriate names.

If we can limit the characters like we can with faction names then I think it could be worth testing

I agree. Faction ranks are good for organizing. But still, I'm curious why it was disabled in the first place. :/

At least make it long enough for things like military ranks, or acronyms of them since I can imagine a lot of people would like having that. Also, and I don't know for sure, you could limit the ranks to the leaders of the factions (admin and mods)... although that would sort of defeat the purpose.

from what i remember they were dissabled because of spam in chat. too many tags/colors/worlds to pay attention to. the way it is now is super simple people know who staff is and newbs dont ask silly questions about the tags... ever played on a faction multiworld server?

[pvp][admin][faction durr]commanderfluffy: blah blah blah

now imagine that with say oh 30 diffrent people. trying to hold a converation when you cant even read what he said when its already half way up the page cause half his all other people talk in 2 lines!

and if your not in a faction people will pick on you for it.. its lame i thought this was a build server not a pvp only server?

I have played on a multiworld factions server, all it showed was [OP], [AD], [MOD] or [DONATOR] and [WORLD].
The tags only appeared in faction chat.

Well, now that I think about it, if it only apeared in faction chat them what is the purpose? It would be easier just to tell your faction members what rank they or make a board in f home saying who's incharge of who. The ranks are more for the f members who aren't mods or admins who want to have some sort of rank so there is no real point...

The point of these ranks are to organise the factions a bit more. If you have people who are not faction mods to have a bit more control of other non-faction-mods, then ranks in faction chat are the way to go, since when you are on a raid or out in the wild you don't want to have to go back and forth all the time just to check if the person you're raiding with is the higher rank. Okay, some (read: most) factions are very unorganised, but for those who are it would be a great help. I remember I missed that feature a lot when I was still in NCR.

Also, ranks can be used as a reward for activity, thus getting members more involved.
