With 1.6 notch added hatches.
These can be used by doors and I think they should have the ability to be protected by lwc. Is this on the mod developer's side to add this or can you guys add it? (I expect the former). Just a suggestion, as they could be used to gain access to secret bases or perhaps vaults. I was thinking of making a cool obstacle / challenge course with them, and it would be useful if I could lock them so that the participant could only open them by using redstone.

It's up to the plugin author (Hidendra), you can make a suggestion through github, that's the path I'm taking to communicate with the bukkit crew these days as esper.net is so unstable this side of the Atlantic.
Iron hatches are anticipated, and will act like the current iron doors requiring power to open.
 
On the bukkit lwc page it says server OP could set it to every block they want. I don't know if they can add specific block value but ignore others or it is to hard or unstable to set it up. It would be also great to protect paintings too.

That's a goal, but certainly not the state of LWC today.
 
That page neglects to mention the interaction between Protections, Worldguard and LWC.

why hatch protection. why door protection why sign protection. i say box protection and thats it. thats my opinion. but why have a hatch protection hideing your mine holes or something?
 
I like using redstone with hatches (you can sorta make a survival jump latch thing)
kinda ruins it when you can flip them down yourself
 
There was a time (in February I believe) when we could lwc everything. Did the ops clean up the database for these blocks afterwards ?
Do lwc still work on those?

I'm asking because every day the paintings gets removed from the Everglades region center. If I could get lwc 'all' for an half hour I could protect the stuff there.
 
oh, I'll try this. Maybe something's changed because it wasn't working earlier.

under the iron door one in core.txt
it worked for me

I would like sign protection if the bugs are ever worked out just to avoid having to re-place after banning a griefer.
Otherwise I'm in agreement with Fluffy, we should disable LWC on doors and not enable it for hatches, I haven't come up with a reasonable cause for locked doors on a creative server.
 
hmm... maybe just make it auto register as none then if you want to protect it you can, just if someone was afraid that people would steal there paintings or destroy there crops to avoid replacing stuff

There should be no fear of this on the Minecraft Addicts server, both are not allowed and will result in action against the perpetrator.
Chests need to be placed private by default as it's the usual deployment. (Less than 1% of chests are configured otherwise.)
 
We did a LWC update and now it asks for specifics with regard to which blocks we can protect. We have never had any luck with paintings with ANY plugin, so I'm not sure LWC will do the trick (though we can certainly test it). We will try trapdoors too.
