I can't hear/see people talk

You see, Pivotdude is talking to Striker. I cannot see Striker's replies.

This anything new?

Either striker is PM'ing him, and pivot is being pivot. Or striker is talking in alliance/faction chat, and pivot is being pivot.

I had this happen before... So its not just pivot and striker. I know pivot was talking to Noobly, too.

I think its more a case of him not wanting to talk to you.
Checked the console at that time and striker was talking in faction chat.

We should probably tell them to talk in the same chat or not at all. It can get a bit annoying, and may make other people think they're crazy. Which they are, but why would we want to spread that around?

So we have faction talk, why? It should be only those in survival can use faction chat.

theres a couple reasons that faction chat is enabled in all worlds:

so that faction members and faction allies can talk to each other privately,
and it helps keep regular chat clear of the faction worlds happenings. regular chat would be 50x as full if everyone used that instead of faction chat. i know theres quite a bit of chatter in TA's faction chat alone, let alone the chat that happens between TA, TWB and PRO.
