IRC should be limited.

Hey guys,

It has come to my attention that people in IRC chat are able to see all of the war world chats as well as public (faction, alliance). I think that it should not be allowed for addicts to allow regular builders and donaters to log into IRC chat. It makes them able to see what other factions are planning and could create problems. I mean, why even have faction and alliance chat anyways if anyone could log onto IRC and see what you and your team are chatting about.

Anyways, hope you take this into consideration.

Assuming CraftIRC is the plugin being used, I found this ticket on bukkit dev:http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/craftirc/tickets/35-factions-chat-to-craft-irc/
So if we use the plugin and update it, it should be fine. If we use an alternative plugin, we should use this CraftIRC:http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/craftirc/

I actually agree with zanderchin but I am slightly biased as I made a fool of myself on it. I was lecturing Emily_Simons for swearing and useing caps until zander spoke up that it was their faction chat. I felt horrible because I get pretty vulgar in faction chat too. I wont be using IRC again haha.

Personally they all know irc can see this. It was dissabled previously because of this faction chat issue.

Quite frankly its not really a private chat since its usually between multiple users. And I personally think you did right pointing out swearing faction chat or not. Its not really neccisary to swear in game

With the factions world reset coming so soon I wouldn't have thought there would be any major "compromises". IRC is super handy for a lot of us so it would be a shame to see it go, if you're really conscious about not sharing your chat, you can always /msg eachother (not quite as user friendly but plot your attacks with short sentences, you'll sound cooler in the process)

Maybe the plugin needs an update?
Also if you look in the comments of the ticket, someone says they figured out how to fix it. I'm not sure if it would work but here it is:

In the factions config, the line: "chatTagRelationColored": true, Change to false like: "chatTagRelationColored": false, and everything will work as how it is supposed to.

So sorry about the trouble, it is fixed now, and this ticket can be closed.
