Life Sized Parthenon - Different Server

Hey guys.

It's been a while since I've played here on minecraft addicts, about 2-3 weeks I think.

I've been testing out some random stuff on another server, see how different things look,
how many blocks they require, so on and so forth.

I just finished screwing around with a mini-pacman maze. It's approx 80x80 I think. I really
dont know, just something like that.



Now I'm going to attempt something...significantly larger.

I've finished drawing out the floor plans for my Parthenon. I consider it fairly life-sized...if not
a bit larger.

The whole thing together is going to be approx. 150 blocks wide, 310 blocks long.

There are 46 pillars outside the cella, and 23 pillars inside.

The outer-most pillars are 9 in diameter. The inner-most are 5. In between are pillars of 7.

I'm not sure how high it's going to be just yet. The ceiling in this other server is fairly low,
so no higher than 30 probably.

Here's the floor plans, based on the actual floor plans of the Parthenon.



If it goes well, and I can get some donations and helpers on this server, I'll start it here as well.
But thats entirely up to you guys.

I'll keep everybody posted on how it fares.

That's a good project to learn how to build big things by yourself.

Yeah it's definately been a learning experience. I have over half the server helping me on this, and we almost have the floor done (approx.
46,500 blocks alone) while I'm mapping out the columns.

Day 1

The floor has been completely finished with tremendous help from the peoples of the server.

I've also began placement of the outer-most pillars.




It's still a LONG way from finished. But we're getting there.

The floor rounded in at approx. 46,500 Stone blocks, as well as stone slabs around the perimeter.

Because that would require him gathering the materials by hand.

Yeah I know. And I plan to...some day.

I'm just building it here first to see how well it will work out at this size, and maybe get an estimation on how many blocks it will require.

use mcdit and minecraft structure planner. build it by layer copy paste all that then export from mcedit into structure planner to find out all the exact ammount of blocks and sizes.
