Vent was being weird for me. I couldnt hear anyone when they would talk.
This is my first time using it on a mac.
 
First thing I would check would be the output in the System Preferences. If that's set, check the sound output in vent (under Setup). Make sure they're set to your headphones/speakers you're using.
