Recently, bobcatfish9 and I were discussing the claiming system and how it has gotten a bit outdated. With the introduction of the Creative claiming system utilizing in-game stake claiming, it seems smart to consider using a similar system in the Build world as well, how ever that could be accomplished.

The current demographic of Minecraft players is at a much younger age than when the current system was introduced. Players nowadays have a lower level of patience and typically aren't willing to undergo the steps to sign up for a forum unless they have a lot of determination (those that do it - you rock <3). The convenience and simplicity of an in-game claim staking program might be worth considering. I think the outcome might be worth the headache of getting the system in place and would help bring more active players onto the server as a result over the coming months.

Just a thought, would like to see other opinions.

The main problem with using that kind of system is that there would be no history of who originally requested the claim, or when, or why they wanted it. Having a forum paper trail is essential since plugins come and go but the forum posts would stay.

It's great in theory but wouldn't work out in practice just yet.

Well, Staff must accept the claim in-game, so it wouldn't be difficult to record the claims in a forum would it? Or in a text chat on Discord, etc. The goal is to make claiming easier for the players. The work on the staff side wouldn't increase much if at all if this path was taken, either. Forums are a horribly outdated way to join a server, unless you're on, say, a intense RPG type server.

My vision of that kind of thing would be that we have a lot of players come, stake a claim, build for a day, and then leave, never to return, and we run out of claims to give out a lot sooner than we would have. Making a forum account and taking the effort to make a post shows that they're likely to stick around, at least for a little while.

I do see your point, though, and, believe me, if we could come up with a good way to log everything and have a plugin that works, we'd consider it.

Fair enough, just consider that forum-based signing up might be hurting more than helping in terms of retaining any players at all.
