Description of Contest:i want people to build ...something they think is neat on flat land and use an empty map to mark it so they have a painting

Location of Contest: build

Special Parameters: you can build with what you want but you (person building) will supply all blocks. i would request a server provided plot ahead of time (soonish as i would like this contest to be up and ready by the time 1.4 rolls around and my POA (pillar of Autumn) is done) so that i can make it the contest area with pre-built flat plots that match the dimensions of the empty maps.

side note. these paintings will be hung up the in museum section of my ship by the use of item frames. i will have prizes for top 3. 1000 caps first place 500 caps second and 250 third. there will be a certain section where these paintings will be hung up so that you know they were the winners

Sounds good but what does this mean? Like pixel art or something, or a scenic thing worthy of being in a painting?

Guys if you do this somewhere in the middle of nowhere like the nether overworld you can keep your painting on the map and get back all the blocks you used in the painting if you dont want to have a big flat pixel art on your land. Just dont open your map at that spot again. You can use it for custon paintings in 1.4

Well yes the nether would be semi good but you have to deal with mobs and pvp and no block registering. That is why i said "server provided plot"

Well you can make whatever you want for a painting in the nether and tear it up when you have loaded your map as the painting. Do you realize how big the plots would need to be in build to fill up a map? A normal pixel art will not really work in a map as a painting. If you want something to look really good you have to place your blocks at specific points on the land, those blocks show up on the painting all others wont. Look at this:

YOu only need the blocks there temporarily, mobs dont spawn as much as you think in the nether overworld which is why I suggested it. Maybe you are thinking of a pixel art contest?
