Redstone lever problem

Hi, levers dont work for me. When i hit them, the lever doesnt flip. also, it it is on the ground, it turns sideways. If it is in a corner of a wall, it will jump to the other wall. does anyone know why this happens, thanks. (BTW, srry for all the questions ive been posting recently)
