Just had an idea, completely close off the upper portion of the spawn (the part with all the signs) so that you cannot leave (damn I wanted to say escape...:D). That would force people to read all the signs (for the most part). And give the guests a command that warps them to the ground floor of the spawn (with the obsidian and directions), and put that command on the last sign on the last floor.

In theory it would work.

Or you could put that command on the forums, so they would have to go to the forums to find it, but that might be a bit to much, so just the first paragraph, I believe, would be good.

i agree with godspeedz

to many people are just asking questions and not reading the signs. They expect the answers from other players so its easier for themselves.

i would say, do with godspeedz said, and come up with away to make them read all the signs then ask further questions. Asking questions before reading the signs is not helping the new person at all.

I don't think tgat sign would make them read any more/less of the signs and we'd still get people asking how to get out not seeing that last sign. It may work for leaving the building (no more hole), but I don't think it'll fox our problem of people asking how to get out (they're not reading signs anyway...)

I think it's worth looking into the exit ideas, but a lot are too impractical and roundabout or our simple goal I think.

Thanks!

I still think people will just disregard the signs and ask for help. My idea is to leave spawn the way that it is but block guests from chat when they first join. When they try to say something, it would say something like "You must read all signs at spawn to enable chat"...etc. and then there could be a hidden command in the signs somewhere or on the forums that the user can use to grant them access to chat.

I think anything hidden will cause problems because, as you can see now, they can't even find the obvious ones xD

the reason the spawn has a drop down rather than a warp or a password door is because most of the idiots cant find the exit.

there is nothing you can do to make people read the signs or stop them from asking questions

Some people will always ask questions, all we can do is say 'read the signs.'
I think this would just help a little more.

How about just not letting them leave spawn until they are accepted as builder. Turn off the warp commands for guests (If there even on now) and set a warp /warp spawn for guests to use once they are a builder.

maybe have an lwc door with password protection?
and the password is on one of the signs or something
or it could be the first word of the first sign on everyfloor combined

Ya I also think that builders should only be accepted if they make a claim so there is no suspicion of griefing

Lol i think we're entering the realms of fantasy a little now :)

Fantasy is good.
Also they should be locked up until they are accepted, but this will just cause them to complain and keep asking when they will be accepted as a builder.
There is no possible way to keep them and us happy at the same time so someone has to suffer.

how about using soulsand so they cant just walk fast out
and have to read the signs

That could actually work, its a question of making the sign visually obvious.
I see a narrow soulsand corridor with signs planted in the way.
The signs shou;d point to the forums, with clear instructions on where to go to read the necessary stuff.
