just making this threat to point out that sponges don't work anymore
Don't know since when but just found out today when placing a new sponge to try

They know sponges aren't working. The plug in isn't up to date or just isn't being used any more, I'm not too sure.

The sponge plugin that we used for 1.2 is not available for 1.3 -- we've looked at a couple of replacement plugins but none of them are stable enough (to this point) to include without risking more server crashes.

Whenever the plugin is stable enough to trust. We know that people put sponges to good use, so there's no reason to exclude them if they are not risking server instability.
