The short version:
Q) Will this server update to 1.7?
A) Yes!
Q) When will this server update to 1.7?
A) When our server mod/plugins are updated and work correctly. This will probably a couple of weeks but it's impossible to know for sure at this point.
Q) Can I still play on this server in the meantime?
A) Yes, but you will need to stay at version 1.6. If you have already updated to 1.7, it is easy to switch back to version 1.6. Just follow the instructions here!
The details:
Our server runs CraftBukkit. CraftBukkit is a server mod that allows us to use custom plugins.
When Mojang updates the game (to beta 1.7 in this case), the CraftBukkit team must re-code their server mod to work with it. When that is finished, the authors of the custom plugins must then update their code to work with the new CraftBukkit version. This takes time. Mojang will likely release a bunch of fixes to 1.7 over the next week or 2 (1.7.1, 1.7.2, etc.) and every time they do that the CraftBukkit team must start over again. Once the mod/plugins are released, we then have to download them and test them with our configuration.
We will keep you in the loop as we progress toward a 1.7 release. We have done this many times now and are becoming increasingly efficient, so stay tuned.
