To sort out my chests and optimize the usage of space, I'd like to use that mod:

But I want a greenlight from the higher ups before proceeding.

On the server there were discussions about this like a year an a half ago
answer was no
Jangles didn't like automatic sorting like this
 
When I asked alien about this a while ago he said it probably wasn't a good idea to be using it. Haven't gotten an official decision but that's what he said to me a while back.
 
It does nothing to the server, it doesn't give you any real advantage over other players except for a few seconds of saved time that no one would care about. Is there something more to this mod that im not getting? I have used it a lot in the past, its not noticeable to anyone else, what is the big deal?

I actually used the same comments as you have, but his preferance was more important to the crew

Did he say this on the forums? I would have a big laugh if I got banned for using this mod.
 
I'd assume that the reasoning behind not allowing it was pve/pvp related, as you can loot the good things from chests faster than other players can.
 
Are these worlds competitive to the point where a few seconds count while browsing chests?

I'd use it to sort my vault without causing injury to my right wrist.
 
No assault, this was before pvp existed.
Read my comment, I estimated this decision to be around a year and a half ago.
But Jangles thought this mod strayed away too much from the vanilla feel in which you have to do things yourself and not just automate it without mods. Hence why some mods are allowed, but both Jangles and Static back then recommended and wished for vanilla themselves used only vanilla. Use of some mods was just a compromise.
Also in the newer versions there is an option to automatically switch out tools, equip armor etc. Kinda unfair in pvp and pve, so that is another reason.

Honestly guys I am gonna quit in this threat.
I know what they said back then and I tried to defend this mod.
Just telling you it is not okay to use it (and answer leprinces question).
I want to use it too, just telling you we can't, unless stated by a mod or higher in this thread.
I shouldn't be defending these rules and you guys shouldn't question me, just accept the answer I have or question it with mod rank or higher. Arguing with my won't work, just giving you my experiences.
And since mods seem to be evading this thread there seems to be some confusion about it.
