Hey guys, with the arrival of XP on the server (thanks btw!) I thought it might be a good idea to make some guidelines to gaining XP.
Collecting

There are many ways to collect XP, but you may not know that some ways are better then others.
Smelting:
For every item you smelt, you gain some XP, but some items give you more then others.
Here is how much they give you:
Diamond, Emerald and gold ore: 1.0
Iron and redstone ore: 0.7
Raw beef, chicken, fish and porkchop: 0.3
Cactus, clay, lapis and potatoes: 0.2
Coal ore, cobblestone, sand and wood: 0,1
The technique I use is to make a huge cactus farm, while it grows mine iron and cobble, then collect all the cactus and smelt the iron, cobblestone and cactus.

Mining

While you smelt all your cactus and cobblestone from the previous technique, you can go mining! Here is how much Xp it gives you to mine certain ores:
Coal Ore: 0-2
Diamond and emerald ore: 3-7
Lapis: 2-5
Redstone Ore: 1-5
Monster Spawner: 15-43

Mobs

All passive Mobs: 1-3
All Aggressive Mobs: 5
Blaze:10

Don't forget that auto-farms aren't allowed on this server. This doesn't stop you from making a cactus farm! The way I do it is I have a pretty long row of cactus growing beside a tree farm. Usually the cactus will be done growing at the same time as many of the trees, I will then smelt the trees into charcoal (getting a bit more XP) then use this charcoal to smelt the cactus.
Now to finish this thread, here is a chart to show how much XP progresses your XP bar, depending on what level you are. As you can see, once you reach level 30 you should stop trying to gain XP, and go use it so that when you gain XP it counts more.
