Me and Jens have only two more major features we want to implement before the release in November. The plan it to stop all new development on October 18, and resume them again after the release on November 18. That will give us one month to focus on just fixing bugs, cleaning up the code, and optimizing the performance to make sure the release will be as good as possible.

It looks like 1.9 will be the last and final update with new features and I was very happy to hear they will solely focus on bug fixing.

You notice he said we will work on two new things then just bugtest and update more after release. We will never get out of this constant development and upgradeing and so on. It will just be the same as now. It won't ever be a patch here and there it will be ok here's final release... you like ok... now here's new final release update or not your choice. Its a pain inthe ass really. Nothing is gonna change in my opinion as far as I can tell and how their track record is now.

Minecraft may never stop updating. But at least he wont have the excuse to why its buggy by saying its only beta
I hope...

why do have to be the cynical one here? Doesn't matter if its a full release or not untill they stop playing with the source code and stop bumming around in development terms they may say its a full release but it will still be beta... anyone else find that this is the current trend? All the announcements about minecrafts stuff is very public so I don't belive anything is hidden and the community has actually gotten used to the fact this game will never be final release untill he stops development for it and just has expansion packs that do not require modding to get it to function.

These are just my thoughts. I dunno I've lost confidence in mojang and notch with what they have been saying quite a while ago.

the game is good the confidence in the development team is bad. last update for instance hunger bar? really next we'll have a breathe click motion if you cant breathe we cant survive bull crap... really is this going to turn into a facebook/sims game i dont want it to but its starting to look that way.

thats why i lost confidence in it.

I would rather the modding community take over. You dont see any of their mods (Released version) have bugs hehe.
