New Bare Minimum PC

Just read about this device and thought I'd share because it looks awesome! Its called the Raspberry Pi and its basically a super cheap bare essentials computer which runs a lightweight linux distro with the aim of both getting people interested in coding and giving hardware/software enthusiasts a nice platform to build upon.

Its £16 for the standard model and £22 for a networking enabled version and I'll definitely be purchasing one as soon as they're readily available

For $25 ill buy one just to try it out. It will be the first computer Ive had that the monitor cost more than the actual computer.

I am all for anything that encourages people to try linux or new systems that involve more then point and click. No it wont run apache lacks the memory however its a good place to start.

Why cant it run apache? The specs are almost the same as an ipod touch which I can run an apache server on just fine on that. The processor on an ipod is a bit faster but the memory is practically the same.

i suppose its possible, running a core linux kernel i looked there is one with 256 mb memory, all depends what you are trying to host
