Hello,

A few days ago I was talking to some people on the server about what their thoughts would be on a new rank that could be implemented called the "Veteran Rank". The veteran rank can only be obtained by having 3 characteristics i think a member should have.

-Been on the server for over a year with a clean record.
-Has demonstrated maturity and gets along with others.
-Knows the rules of MCA.

Now we know how to become one. You might say "Whats the need for one of these veterans?"

Well the veterans would be very similar to the architect class that we had a while back. I do realize that the architect class was abolished because the architects abused it. (From what i heard). I look at the veteran class as a group of players who can guide newbies and confused players to get their bearings, and to help out minor problems that may occur. As for perks that this class would recieve, I would honestly ask for nothing. The rank itself portrays the player as a experienced MCA player who can guide others on their way.

Now, someone may say "Become a donator if you want that authority".

I disagree there. Anyone can become a donator with the click of a mouse and a credit card. On the flip side, not anyone can become a veteran of the server. Veterans are only awarded the rank because they are a experienced MCA player who know their S***.

In short, the veteran is a rank awarded to players who have followed the 3 characteristics listed above, and are someone for new or confused players to look up to and to get those newbies on their bearings.

Let me know what you guys think of this idea. I for one would like to see a rank like this become a part of the MCA.

They got rid of architect rank because of the color (at least thats what I was told). New players would often mistake architects for staff. I personally like the idea, although I obviously have a biased opinion. If the rank is implemented, I doubt it would have a different color than builder or donor, or even a tag in front of it. And plus, the staff probably won't want to constantly add players to the rank.

Yeah, we've made it so ranks are staff only (Donors being the exception). It gets rid of all the confusion. Also, every member should be helpful, no matter what rank.

At least it somewhat rewards mature players with a title. A lot of little children and immature screaming teens do come on, so it should be appreciated. Also rewards devoted players. It's something that says " thanks for not being an @$$, here's a little something."

I'm in favor.

It's an interesting idea definitely, as a quick aside, regardless of whether anything like this is implemented or not, please understand that we do notice community members who go the extra mile to help out etc. We may not have a chance to ever give you any sort of "official" thanks for it (mainly because we'd end up spending all our time thanking people!) but yeah, keep up the good work, we all appreciate it.

Yea we usually keep ntabs on all good community members. The server may not show it but we do see it.

Others have mentioned the reasons as to why archetect was removed. Some sort of thing on the forums may be able to satisfy these needs? A leaderboard achevements? After all we removed donations messages because we couldn't keep up with it.

Maybe would that work?

The idea is good, but the problem will be the rms+. If they are already ranked, then new member will get confused and give us more respect than the rms+ that deserve it. I like the idea, but are rms+ going to get the rank as well? On a good note, members that have those 3 characteristics deserve this rank as well, these people have been loyal to the server for a year or more and this is a great gift for them to have, because some people (noobs) do not belive that the members that are veterans are well veterans. So overall this is a good idea. I hope this happens, but we need to think this through as the SM was thought through.

Strikerpro.

Which is exactly why another rank on the server is not going to happen, at least a superfluous one like this. Ranks are for staff to minimize the confusion.

From what i see most of you are basing your opinions on the previous experience with the architect rank, and im also thinking that noobs thought they were staff because they were light blue. I decided to put my thinking cap on before i went to bed last night (yea, i said that) and i came up with the idea of NOT changing the color but instead inserting something like this infront of their name

[V]DCL_ (For example)

I'd still be a dark green donator but i'd only have [V] infront of my name. This way the veterans of the server still have the same color as before, but can still be recognized for their experience.

Opinions?

That would work, it would minimize the confusion that Jeff1741 said. And it would keep respect in the right places. Thats much better.

the only problem with that is that the colour and rank are assigned at the same time. so if a player was a non-donator but was a veteran, and he donated, he would lose the [V]

That should be easily fixable though right? They staff just have to repeat the process after they have donated.

yea but with the amount of people that donate, we would be making about 50-60 changes a month, which is too many to keep track of. Basically what im saying is, that with the current system, its not feasible. i have however looked into this a bit, and it may be possible in the future.

colours on the other hand, are much easier for us to apply.

Perhaps you could make a builder veteran rank, for non-donator veterans, and a donator veteran rank? So that when veterans donate they get moved to the donator rank and after asking the staff, would be moved to the donator veteran rank...

And it shouldn't be too much to handle, because honestly, there shouldn't be too many veterans, and if the veterans group isn't that huge, then donations by veterans shouldn't be that hard to keep up with...
