Oh man, spongepunk, are you serious? My kid has a server with about 4 users and costs him $20 a month, MCA has/had 100 users plugs plus bulk memory and probably heaps of upload/download costs. I have no idea what the downgrades are, but if it allows the generous souls who allow me to play ON THEIR MONEY then that's fine with me. You wanna get personal about sucking off others, well mate... I think your name about sums it up SPONGEpunk.

I play on a server that is paid for in part by Mr Jangles, someone I have never met. Do you think he can support a server, and himself off about $300 a month of donations? Do you think he needs that sort of bloody abuse?

I donated only $50 ages ago, that did it for me, I know others have contributed way more. I have 2 kids, a wife and a mortgage that looks like a telephone number to support but I do not begrudge anyone who can contributed so much to my leisure time.

You and the others trying to take the piss out of him need to look inside yourselves, at your core being, it needs re-adjustment, or possibly some exposure to the real world.

Guys, for several months now donations have been coming up short to run the server. In the past the shortfall has always come out of MrJs pocket. Now whatever arrangment he has with Bespoke it does involve them paying the server bill each month. If MrJ hadn't found outside help with the funding, the server would have probably gone ages ago.

let me just clear a few things up from my end.. i dont question the fact that jangles paid out of pocket for our server more than once.. i do question why we as builders/donators(seems some staff didn't even know) where not kept in the loop. the fact that we have been with bespoke for a year but just now we are hearing about it is unacceptable.. the part i think that most people want to know is that if bespoke is footing the bill for the server now but donations are still going to jangles the real question now is if jangles is passing those donations back to bespoke or is that why we are getting downgraded? also if you do your research u find u can host a really powerful server(more than 100slots) for around 200 bucks a month. my main issue is the fact that non of these questions have been answered yet he tells us if we have any concerns to let him know. well my concerns have been made public but we still have no answers. like i said before u cant expect people to donate if u cant show where the money is going. on another note will we still be receiving those addict cards we were promised like 6 months ago or.....?

I haven't given a jack squat in donations so i'l stay out of this whole story completely as i mentioned before as long as the builds are safe i don't care if mutated offspring of hitler and skeletor was in charge even if i end up playing on the server alone

What i WILL mention is something i find myself qualified to because i actually do a good deal of work for the gaming industry - Jangles (or anyone else cept for Mojang) can't charge you anything about any in-game component. Doing so would mean profiteering directly from another party's product and is a violation of EULA (and a few other "agreements" ) and as such is subject to legal ramifications. And before you say "you can mod it" - no , you can't. Doesn't work that way.

Who cares Maple? Maybe we're getting some help from another company, maybe we're not. It doesn't make a difference. The server isn't free, and our donations help that.

Another misunderstanding I see. Bespoke paid for the trip to Minecon.
Jangles is in debt from paying $300+ a month for the server before bespoke took over because of donations always falling short.

After reading Alien's other post, I seem to understand the situation better. Maple, the server wasn't free for a long time. Jangles had to pay for it, and that put him in debt. Donations are used to pay off that debt, and they will be used to pay for the server if Bespoke doesn't support us anymore.

We've been using our own hardware for longer than bespoke has been hosting us. Not to mention another server (still at peer1) where the website and maps were hosted adding an extra $125 per month, the maps are still hosted there.

Assumptions. Assumptions everywhere. I have read alot, if not most posts people have made in the forum throughout the last several days, and here are my "2 cents", as it were.


Should I remind you that no one have actually "payed" anything to Jangles? Some of you, however, have donated. Donations are a means to increase the survivability of the web-site and server. No web-site or server stays up forever. One day, some day, 1 year, 10, years or perhaps even 100 years, the server and web-site will shut down or disappear.
Until that time, I couldn't care less where my donation money are going as long as the server remains UP and the same.


I am not sure if this is true or not, but I do agree that Jangles should have at least discussed with the staff that he wanted/needed to downgrade the server because of the expenses.

Wow this thread has it all; politics, accusations, facts, new builders acting like veterans that know what quality is, and now ME.

Obviously being inactive has kept me 'distanced' from current events, but from what I can see happening on the forums its not all happy days anymore. If this does happen to be some sort of doomsday, as some reactions make it seem, then its 6 months and 15 days late. You'd think the Mayans could do time zone conversions. Geez.

Anyway, I'm not going to get involved in any holy wars here so let me say this, Without (the invisible) MrJ's hard work and time, you guys would be on some other scum-sucking server. It seems to me that s*** has hit the fan (or is yet to) but someone put a lot of effort into making that s***. And by the experiences that I've had, and that others have had (and will remember), then that was one inverted digestive system. It seems to have taken out all the bad stuff and producing the most shiny, golden poop you've ever seen.

Although I will have to get some explanation about the Fluffy's sometime, I am sticking with Jangles on this one. I'm not sure what you guys are afraid of, because to turn coat on the 'creator' like this, it must be real freakin scary. But ask yourselves, what are you afraid of? Losing things? What things? Projects? Good memories? Who gave you the opportunity to create them? Maybe one day after all this madness has subsided you can come round and still enjoy some old cave paintings of the old times.
