Heyo. Kinda bored so I figured I'd give an update on some commonly used mods that I think most players should use! I've noticed that a startling number of noobs and some not-so-noobs don't know about them, so eh, yeah.
Optifine is 95% complete for 1.7.2. For lower end computers, optifine is great in that it allows you to have more leverage with how you set your graphics experience. I used to run 10 fps or so and now I'm constantly at 30 on my old laptop, so I highly recommend. For people like Coolio who say it slows them down... Eh... -Insert Bad Luck Brian meme-. Anywho, this mod is the most helpful one I've used, especially regarding depth fog and animations.
ALSO! Don't download Ultra unless you have a fancy computer! Download a Light or Normal varient (C7 Light is great for lower end computers, C8 Normal is best for the majority of players) if you're using a common PC or Mac that you just go out and buy. If you've customized your PC/Mac to run things at 198134 FPS, then by all means, go Ultra. -grumbles about Alien's op PC-

Rei's Minimap does not seem to be complete yet, but I imagine it's in the process. Rei's allows you to set infinite waypoints, see your death points, and view the surrounding terrain via a (get this) minimap. It's very helpful for plotting out crap and what not.

MCCapes isn't very helpful... but it's still cool! It allows to upload/choose a cape from a gallery and where it ingame. The website has easy instructions for getting one. Pretty sure MCCapes is working on 1.7.

1.7 has also made modding much, muccch easier in that now mods can be installed by simply putting the download into the Mod folder in your minecraft folder (%appdata% > .minecraft for Windows; Library > Application Support > minecraft for OS X). So now you don't have to go in and delete 50003924.58 .class files and whatnot.
So yeah! These mods are my favourite ones as far as regular mods go. Hope you found this helpful. Cya!
