Alternative to Factions - Towny!

A world reset is definitely needed. With the reset the world should be bigger with not only larger world dimensions but a larger safe-zone to prevent factions walling it off. I think that towny sounds much more intricate, better.

I do NOT agree with this. SAS finaly finished the base and had some succesful raids.
We have put countless hours and resources into our work, and a reset would screw everything up.
If only people hadn't made such a mess near spawn...
 
I know people have invested lots into the PvP world, but I too think we could use a reset. I've got some ideas on how to improve the spawn area while giving more War Zone area for people to fight. However, I think there'd be too much negative feedback (especially from the noobs).
 
Me personally find no matter what the outcome of pvp it will turn out looking like a rediculusly destroyed area that is completely useless.

Towny may work but it also may not. I understand the arguments from both plugins perspecitve.

I will look into these plugins more for a more detailed view of this disscussion and put in my words of wisdom.

Most of the factions have invested countless hours into their bases, but a reset would enable a lot to be improved upon as Jeff has stated. I believe that everyone starting off on a clean slate would revitalize the PvP world and also allow us to utilize all the new terrain features that have been added since the map was first generated.
 
Exactly chdsbd. I'll talk to the other staff, see what they think about my ideas. A fresh start would be good, and yeah, there's new terrain stuff (although not too much), but we'll see.
 
If we are going to lose a mass amount of items and bases in which we put in serious time, I believe we should get something in return to compensate for the loss. Caps to build a new base, for example. This way, it's more fair.
 
I understand the amount of time, but really a compensation? Surely that's just going to end up in factions being the same as last time? And will not make it more fair because you'll have an advantage over those just starting out in factions. Personally I feel that spending caps in factions makes things ridiculous, fair enough have your bases. But make them legitimately, that way we're less likely to have the stalemates of the past.
 
I think that most people have a large amount of valuables of stuff in PvP. But I think that compensation is not needed and would not help us start fresh
 
Well, If we are all suppose to start fresh, I'm still going to feel a bit cheated.
 
I'm not saying I'm against compensation, as I know some people have spent actual money on their factions. But I don't think it should be fed back into factions for the sake of balance.
 
I support the Towny idea. Eventually we could bring back the faction world too, but in the meantime, I say do this. Enough people seem to support it that it would be worth it, and I think that if the whiners are bored enough they'll come see how fun it is. We should still definitely bring back factions if we can, but it'll be a while, and Towny is the next best alternative.

Plus, I always thought it was lame in PvP how everybody covered their bases in obsidian and nobody could get in, so there's almost no point to playing in Factions after they've set up bases. With Towny, if your town works hard to gather resources as a team, you can put them to use and go to war in a fair fight, instead of hoarding your stuff, hiding in your giant bases, and trash-talking all day (and driving everybody crazy because the chat window is always full).

I would really like to see this Towny idea happen, at least temporarily.
 
If we replace factions with Towny, we should allow shop plots and get rid of the global shop in survival to allow the world to develop its own economy. And if possible, keep PvP out of towns and allow it only in wilderness. If PvP is in towns people will just build underground bases again and that will limit growth. Having creeper block damage would also keep the world tidy, to avoid how factions world turned out. Having a seperate inventory in survival from day one would be nice too, ensuring everyone has a fair start.

As for the creeper damage, the best thing to use is the creeperheal plugin.
It lets creepers blow stuff up, but it fixes it over a (configurable) period of time.
 
Continuing my quest for a real answer. Why is factions not up?
