WELCOME TO THE ADDICTS SERVER!
Just to get started let me introduce myself, I am Godspeedz. I've been on this server for way to damn long and I have built a lot of stuff, including several houses, fountains, and a maze. That's good enough for now, if you have any questions, just ask me in-game.
I have recently began building a new city, one that will eventually reach grand heights, with the help of this awesome community. As far as progress is concerned, I will keep this thread (hopefully) updated.
Some background information on the city. It is located in the middle of an arctic biome, and the town hall is built of snow. In front of that is the fountain, and to the left is the insurance building. The insurance building is nothing special, just a list of the lots, and who owns the lot, for organization.
The lots are basically plots of land that I have outlined with sand, and numbered with signs. The outline is just a recommendation, and is by no means the limit to your house or project, just to keep things from being square and boring.
To claim a lot, I would prefer you talk to me and ask me about the lot you want. There is no charge, unless you are thinking of doing something special. If you want to change the shape of the lot, outline it in sand and let me know. Otherwise, the design of your project is only limited by your imagination and creativity. As far as land claiming goes, the space I've set aside for this city is claimed by me. The lots will act as a sort of mini-claim after you claim it, and your name is on the whiteboard (located in the insurance building).
There are plenty of lots to go around, and I am making tons more. There is also a tree farm in the back, as well as plenty of snow. (Be sure to attempt to gather snow with the shovel, although I would prefer you gather your snow from /warp arctic). Also, there is a road that leads to the sea/ocean/lake or whatever it is, and it is frozen, so yes, you can skate on it.
As far as building in Arctic City, I don't mind what you build with, although I prefer wood or snow, as it is much more pretty to look at.
Mining, because there will be so many people in somewhat close quarters, Mining in general underneath Arctic City will be considered public. However, there is a fine line between general mining and being rude. An example: Don't go into somebody's house just to go inside their mine and take stuff. If mines happen to meet underground, just be friendly and stay on your side, and don't run over to the other person just to take some gold he just found. The selling of lots is forbidden. If you don't want your house there anymore, destroy it and let me know so I can remove you from the list.
If I am not online and you want to claim a lot, post in this thread with a picture of the outline of your lot and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Also, some recommendations for future building projects for this city can be posted here, like I will build a crafting house sometime soon, are greatly appreciated. And you can talk generally about Arctic City here, and the community that it involves.

Sky Bridge from arctic warp to Arctic City (warning: minecraft hates my bridge, so it is vulnerable to chunk errors a lot. So don't be surprised if a chunk of my bridge is missing, just relog and continue on your path, or just ask me for a teleport to Arctic City).
Tournament Style Spleef Arena with 4 lower rooms for smaller battles, and a large upper room with a top-side viewing deck for the finals of any tournament, or for large battles.

Arctic City Band the building is complete, just some of the note blocks need to be tuned.
Remember, notes can be heard up to 48 blocks away.
Arctic City Pool It is heated, so don't worry about hypothermia. Still, I wouldn't spend to many hours in the pool. ^.^
Roads are now made of Cyan Wool and Stone Slabs, and there are now 'street lamps' lining the streets for visibility and added beauty. (try looking at Arctic City at night from the top of the spleef arena or one of the buildings, it is quite orgasmic).
Currently working on: Expanding Arctic City into the water (yes an underwater section of the city is being built, don't know how long it will take me to complete it, but it will be beautiful when it is done, and I will try to make future expansions of Sector Rapture (hehe) somewhat easy to build. Lighting is the most difficult part right now, but I am slowly overcoming it. Walls...and they look epic. If you haven't seen the walls yet, look at the world map (click the Arctic City link at the top) or ask to see it while I am in the game. More lots, more trees, bigger and taller buildings, more lighting.
Also working on a Colosseum. And this isn't your average Colosseum, this will be epic and detailed, and MASSIVE!
Future updates: Maybe a Sky Sector? And a Dock Sector
A public farm. A song (will be piano noteblocks underneath the Town Hall, repeating of course). A subway station/system to connect to the rest of the world. A high-stakes spleef area will be added (lava pit if you fall). A public mine. An Animal Farm.
Foresight:
When my city ever becomes overpopulated, I will expand Sky Sector to cover the entire city, and I will build a 'Dark Sector' (which will be underground, and will include a mining area). If it (miraculously) is still overcrowded after both of those, I will begin production of a 'peon sector' which will basically be lots outside the walls.
