I don't know about you, but I hate that the game doesn't automatically make pine/birch trees, or that saplings don't simply plant themselves. Pine trees are by far my favorite, because they grow straight up, and are very easy to cut down.

Wouldn't it get a bit messy though with trees popping everywhere?

well i like the sound of it.. but those trees grow quite close together. also it may glow in areas we dont want them to grow.. like next to a house.. in a house. on a flat peice of land someone was leveling... all that stuff...

however. if or when a purge is introduced into our map birch and pine will be available for all to get.

I believe the mod you listed is for single player only. The issue of tree types has been coming up more and more often, so we'll have to address it at some point (unless Mojang does it first). Let's get 1.3 rolling and then we'll look at plugins that relate to this topic.
