Out of curiosity i decided to read more about Bukkit to find out what all you could do with it. While reading through the Bukkit forums, I found a plugin named "Elevators". I believe that this is pretty self-explanatory :p but just to give a little more information I will quote part of the post:

"What this plugin does:

It creates vertical moving elevators, which can be controlled by redstone currents.

Features:
Creating 1x1 up to 5x5 elevators by using stone slabs.
Floor-management: define your own floors with individual names, being able to call an elevator on every floor by – per Example – pressing a button.
Elevator movement-controls: have different buttons for moving the elevator up and down, skip floors by pressing a control button several times.
Command-queuing: the elevator will move to the different floors one after the other if it gets more than one command at the same time."

Could we install this plugin on our server? Elevators would be very helpful for mining and just for large buildings and they look nice too :D.

this sounds way better than taking stairs. if im lazy in RL, why not be lazy while being lazy here too!
 
well thats pretty cool if i do say so myself. dont know how people would use it here.. but would help if you had levels in a mine.
 
I don't see any problems with elevators but it would be nice if we could charge Caps for them. It's been requested but not available yet.

Let me tinker with this for a bit in my head.
 
well...we need caps to buy the stuff like the buttons (unless you get coal and smelt cobblestone and make them yourself) and stuff...maybe a little bit...i kinda like the free idea tho :p lol
 
I wonder if I could use that to, say, raise a missile out of a silo for my bunker. :P

Edit: Probably if the missile were only 5x5. Darn.
 
Jangles and I have been discussing this plugin and will likely move it to the dev stage (for testing) within the next couple of days. If it plays nicely with the rest of our setup, we'll include it in our next update.
 
We have decided to place this plugin on the "low priority" list as it does not currently mesh with our setup in a way that makes it attractive (to the back-end). There are also quite a few other plugins that we are testing that are far more important, from our perspective. We understand that you guys have a lot of interest in this one, so we will keep an eye on it and will re-evaluate as it gets updated/improved.
