I'm in the process of building one of the most gratuitously difficult and complex mazes in the history of Minecraft mazes. It's more than a maze. It's a labyrinth. A place people go into but don't come out of. (In fact, I might play with the idea of having warping commands disabled so you have to ask someone to get you out with a /tphere should you give up... and join the Hall of Fail.)
Currently, I have completed Floor 1 of the labyrinth. The second floor is laid out, but not filled in yet.
(Complete) Front entrance: Hall of Fame/Fail, concealed ghostly lighting
(Complete) Floor 1: Standard solid block maze with auto-resetting remote door trigger
(Building) Floor 2: 2-state positive and negative space maze with simple algorithm protection
(Concept) Floor ?: One way gate maze
(Concept) Floor ?: Over-under weave maze with no dead ends (5 tall, instead of standard 3)
(Concept) Floor ?: Ant farm maze: Vertical four-sided maze, glassed interior atrium
And finally...
Top Floor : 100x100 cell chaotic algorithm, sun-lit, solving algorithm protected, false exits. For reference, most floors are prototyped with a 20x20 input and built at 3:1 scale simple maze (~60 blocks a side). This is 100x100 at 2:1 scale (~200 blocks a side).
Anyone willing to donate cobble to the project will be credited in the dedication placard once each floor is finished. I just don't see myself mining the extreme quantities of cobble necessary for this. And yes, I've done the math. This is going to take a very very very long time.
Bige22 and Razyelgore have contributed already. If anyone else has helped by unloading cobble or helping fill in a floor, let me know and you'll get credit too.
EDIT: And for full disclosure, I'm using this application to generate prototypes and adding additional changes to meet my demands: http://www.billsgames.com/mazegenerator/
