Well earlier I did some brainstorming with a few other members and we agreed that there are definitely some things about factions that could be improved upon.
These are some of the suggestions we have come up with (And anyone reading can feel free to post their suggestions for changes to Factions as well)
1 Rules of Engagement:
In Real life Military forces have rules by which they are allowed to do combat, these are my suggestions for these rules to apply to Factions
A. Community Chests must be kept stocked from now on by all members. If you have spare weapons and armor (or the material to make them) you must put them into the stockpiled chests that way all members of the faction will be able to equally arm and equip themselves for combat and survival.
B. Restrictions on the amount of obsidian used in castle walls, only a small set amount (to be decided by all factions unanimously) That way it is not unfair for raids to be defeated due to unbreakable walls. Due to obsidian being so easily acquired now.
C. Another Restriction on the castle, It must be reachable from the ground, if it is underground there must be a tunnel (which does not have to be conspicuous) that leads to the entrance, if it is in the sky, there must be a tower or bridge of some sort that leads to its main gate. Also Castles in the air must have support to its base which hold it in the air, this is to prevent you from building a castle extremely high with no way to reach it. As an addendum to this rules, All castles must have a main gate to its area, whether it leads through the front door of the castle or into a crowded courtyard. There should be plenty of other ways to defend your fortresses anyway.(Cacti, moats, minefields, mob farms, etc.)
D. This is the big optional one that I'm not sure I can get the faction bosses to agree on. Raid times. Only certain times of day will raids be allowed. This is a suggestion due to some factions not having members on at points in the day, making them nearly defenseless. The times would be set by the Factions. If 12 to 8 GMT is the best time agreed by all factions (The times would be a long stretch that way there is plenty of chances to raid) then they vote on it. But once again these points are suggestions put forth and must be agreed upon by the majority of Factions.
E. Honor on the battlefield must be observed, do not prey upon the victories of others. If you see someone win 1V1, do not steal their prizes, though it is legal to challenge them, kill them and take all items. Many players have been accused of stealing wins from other players. If the battle is 1V1 then let it be, or else it might end up being 12V2.
F. PVP logging is Illegal. Simple enough right?. This just makes it a rule is all.
G. This is more of a new function that I'd like to add, If a team successfully completes a raid and wipes out all pockets of resistance, The faction owning the fortress that was raided must surrender it to the raiders. The raiders can then decide if they'd like to keep the new castle or leave it to the defenders, OR Wipe it off the face of the minecraft realm.
Thanks for your time, please comment below more suggestions and if you're a faction leader, your opinions on some of these rules, I'm willing to bend and stretch them to become usable to more people.
Trabnaxes' notes
Weapons of mass destruction are encouraged by me, If you can secretly build a tnt cannon near an enemy base and fire it a few times during raid hours, go for it.
Try to keep farming and mining restricted to near or inside of your fortress walls. Nothing sucks more than starving, going to get food, and then getting jumped.
Don't let people switch sides unless you are sure they are loyal to you.
