FACTIONS WAR

It's fair if everyone has /sethome.
I'm not suggestion I would be the only one(lol)
If players are going to get out and explore the war map, which will hopefully be at least as big as before(6000x6000), then having a roving warp is a big help. I realize that five warp points are planned for the new map, and we will also have /f sethome. But these are all more or less fixed points, once the faction has build a base.
Also, tpa was enabled in the last war map, and should be again, with the normal faction restrictions.

I wish more people would write out what they want in the war world, this is our chance to let the staff know what we want.

!!!

If it were to be enabled it would have to be handled the same way as tpa requests are so that /sethome would have to be disabled in enemy territory. But still someone could leave their faction, set their home in the enemy faction's land as it would not be enemy to them, then they could just join back and they would have a warp into an enemy faction's base.

Factions can be configured to disallow certain commands in enemy and neutral territory. Like this:

Code:
  "permanentFactionMemberDenyCommands": [],
  "territoryNeutralDenyCommands": ["sethome"],
  "territoryEnemyDenyCommands": [
    "home",
    "sethome",
    "spawn",
    "tpahere",
    "tpaccept",
    "tpa"
  ],

chbsbd, I think i can agree with you on enchanting, it could also be a fun way to do pvp, just more of a barrier to players starting out, but really what's the diff? either you go with regular diamond, like the last map, or you get the full enchants and go at it.

Well there is a large variety of enchantments, which as I stated earlier would help change the combat from potion spamming. More importantly when the server chooses to keep major parts of the game out it turns away new players which is needed for the server to survive. Also enchantments don't just affect combat but building as well.

Ya to be honest i think more players have been turned away from the server because of no enchanting then there will ever be due to OP enchants.

To be brutally honest guys the main thing turning people away that want to play in factions is you guys.

Your lack of trust to new players is astronomical. You never accept new members into your factions. So someone wanting to play factions is completely denied, they go out on there own only to be ruthlessly stomped on within a few hours.

I have a few ideas that I will be discussing with the other staff members before we move ahead. I don't play in factions but I know they are important for our players.

Rest assured we are taking your suggestions here.

The lack of trust was brought on by factions being ruined from the inside when anyone is allowed in. When this happens the staff suggest not letting people who you dont know in your faction. Ill let new players in CCE if they can prove they are trustworthy and wont annoy other members in faction chat. I let fista cuffs join when he was new to the server. Blind trust just doesnt work unfortunately.

Staff don't suggest anything in regards to factions. The factions are run by their owners so its down to you guys to work ways out for people to join.
We want people to be accepted in to factions to make them feel a part of the world, if we wanted you guys to outright deny them access to the point they feel they weren't welcome we wouldn't have added the world.

Thats just not true. YOU may not.

Its easy to blame it on the faction owners but unless something new gets added to the factions world to help them with this you wont be seeing much of a change.

I will just agree to disagree with you so someone else can have a turn at trying to find the solution you're looking for in CCE... I certainly dont see myself doing so.

New factions come online all the time. A barrier worth looking at is that you have to donate for factions, rather than anyone being able to start or disband a faction.
If factions were free and /f create was enabled, lots of new players would be in factions quickly, and have access to /f sethome to get out into the map.
And let's do the math here, how many factions have been paid for, and what does the total look like against server expenses?
i'm thinking maybe 20, maybe 30 factions have been created in the last year or so? that would be $200-300, and the cost of the server in the last year has been what?, $600/mth or something? ... which is around $7200.
The server might make more money if factions were free and more people stayed to become donators?

and i still want /sethome please.

Yes, If factions were free more people would probably stay and become donators but having a lot of factions can cause HUGE havoc.

Also having /sethome would be nice :)

If/when we get XP, it's obviously gonna be in PvE as well as WAR... But say if you got XP in PvE would you be able to take it to WAR? Or would it be separate XP totals like separate inventories?

I agree with Chd, it's not fair having to constantly worry about people trolling you, especially when you're staying out of the way. /f sethome is good enough.

It might create load-errors in all of the land protections and junk... Plus make a lot of noobs start spamming the chat for people to join "my @w3s0m3 f@cT!0n PLOX"

With Michael's suggested formatting of the factions config /sethome, I think that homes could definitely be added back to factions fairly as MK has been persistent about. ;)

Maple, I haven't read anything about faction protection causing load errors, and frankly it doesn't make sense. Also, spam can be dealt with as it always has with an admin saying stop, or anyone really. So it is really up to the admins on whether they wan't to remove the cost of factions, there is quite a risk of losing the money from factions permanently if people don't become donators. I personally don't think it is worth the financial risk.

are you saying that no one could sethome in faction land, even if they are in the faction?
that would be fine...., although probably still possible if you unclaim/claim.

I realize if there is no /sethome if a factionless person built a base how would they get back to it?

I think that neutral means that the land is claimed, but you are not an enemy to the faction. So if you are part of the faction that owns that land you could /sethome there since it wouldn't be neutral land to you. Best suggestion is to setup a little server on your computer and test out the plugin to be sure.

Yeah, that is why /sethome has to be reimplemented, but in a just manner.

On a similar note, I think this thread has gone off topic.

Ah, very true. Especially with the financial risk. I think that Jangles and the staff know what they're doing though, so hopefully that risk won't be so risky in the future.
