Failed to connect... what?!?!

I keep getting something VERY odd instead of the usual "Failed to connect to hostname". Instead, I get something that says I failed to connect to a very long Web address, and says that the server reverted the HTTP to me. What the heck is that???
 
If it contains 503 then its the mojang authentication servers.
