Day 150 to 156 (12th to 18th December)

Five months have now passed, since starting this project. I'd admit that it has taken longer than planned, but i have achieved everything i set out to do. The cobble gridwork is now gone and it only took a day to mark out the outline of the chasm. CommanderFluffy and Yennage have both agreed to build somthing for me, later in the build. Fluffy is a very good minecraft designer and will be building a bridge, spanning the chasm, connecting the city to the mainland. Yennage, master of the pixel art, will be making a large banner, hanging beneath the bridge or city depicting the symbol of the Kirin Tor, the wizards of Dalaran. Its still several months away from when i'll be ready for them, but i would like to thank them in advance all the same. I'm asking a couple more Addicts over the next few days if they would like to build somthing, also.
So, the next tasks will be to continue digging beneath the city and turning this....into this(below).

Here are some pictures of the cobble outline, marking the chasm edge as well as the tempory bridge that Fluffy will be replacing, later.

Day 157 to 163 (19th to 25th December)

More digging this week; Not as much as usual because of the preperations for christmas in real life. I did have a small break one of the days to build a couple of festive items for Lofp and spawn. But, even though it was a less than productive week, i still managed to reach a depth beneath the city, where i could start digging underneath it. I'm not sure yet how much space i want to leave between the bottom of the city and the floor of the cavern. The bottom is at height 40, so i want to leave at least a space of 20 blocks, ideally 30. Its all down to what height Void Fog reaches i suppose. I want a lake at the bottom of the chasm with maybe a small fishing village. So i want people to be able to view the city from the bottom of the chasm.

Day 164 to 170 (26th December to 1st January)

I made some progress, this week. I finished undermining the city. Its now floating, but only 2 blocks off the ground. This has allowed me to continue marking out the grid beneath the city. Ive made a seperate diagram of the grid to help me keep track of what ive done. Each square of the grid is roughly 30x30 blocks and there are 168 squares in all. There are 2 types of square. Those around the city, making up the chasm require mostly digging. The others, turning the water areas into land are mostly building. I'm working on 2 squares at once, a diggy one and a buildy one. That way the materials i gain from the digging can be used on the building. I've managed to finish squares 1 - 9 this week as well as the chasm square 52. Square 52 is the one that will hold the bridge. I've done this one first, just in case CommanderFluffy gets bored of all his admin duties and wants to make a start on the finished bridge.
The chasm will have a depth down to block 25. Void Fog occurs at around block 13, so i can go down a further 10 blocks if i need some extra clearance, beneath the city. Ill decide this final depth later.

Day 171 to 177 (2nd to 8th January)

I managed to finish a good number of squares this week, 16 in total. The building ones are a lot quicker to do than the digging ones, but i still managed 1 digging square as well as a good chunck of a second. Squares completed are numbers 10 to14, 19 to 28 and digging one, 51. MrJangles is forever trying to tempt me away from Dalaran with two new Worlds this week. I did spend a couple of days in the Creative World building a little somthing as well as taking part in NineteenGiraffes statue building contest.

Day 178 to 184 (9th to 15th January)

The Build has now reached the 6 month stage. More digging and more building. I've also started putting a layer of smoothstone on the bottom of the city, while i can still reach it. 13 squares completed.

Day 185 to 191 (16th to 22nd January)

It's been a quiet week, with the 1.1 update out; not the usual influx of new members to the Addicts world. CommanderFluffy made a start on the new bridge, joining the city to the mainland. He's had the great idea of having it being held up by lengths of chain to floating rocks, keeping in theme with the city. The Lag problem that many of us have been suffering from, was mostly solved by disableing the Live Map mod that the server uses. I will be sad to see it go, as it was giving me an upto date birds-eye-view of the build for my forum entries. But, id rather be lag free.
8 squares on the grid, completed this week.

Day 192 to 198 (23rd to 29th January)

I experienced a small disaster at the beginning of the week. My graphics card packed up on the PC. However, my brother reminded me that it was a 2 card machine and that it should run ok on just the one card. But, being nearly 5 years old it's beginning to struggle abit on Skyrim, but its still ok on minecraft. So, ive decided on a new I7. It's ordered and should arrive in a week or so.
Anyway, back to work. I managed 8 squares on the grid, this week, despite loseing a day reassembleing the computer. The areas directly beneath the city are very dark and at this point i'm not sure whether i'm going to have lights of some kind, on the underside of the island the city sits on. So, i'm putting in a cobble shelf, so i can still reach the bottom surface if i do decide to add torches or glowstone, later.

Day 199 to 205 (30th January to 5th February)

Only managed to complete 4 squares, this week. My new computer arrived on friday and 12 hours later it packed up. So, back to the old one while the new one goes back in the post. A little thankyou to Serythvalker for helping out, doing some diggin on the sunday.

Day 206 to 212 (6th to 12th February)

...and now we have reached the 7 month stage. We're still going!
My new computer is now repaired so there's nothing stopping me, now. This week i manged to finish an impressive 22 squares on my grid. I must admit that many of them didn't need much work, but it was still a good morale boost. This weeks special thanks go to Yennage and Benjbear. They both popped over on Tuesday and helped out with some digging for an hour or so.

Day 213 to 219 (13th to 19th February)

Six squares on my grid completed this week. And that is the last of the "buildy" areas of my landscape. All i'm left with now are the chasm squares, in the centre. Things will probably slow down for a bit, now. Work will mostly involve shifting huge amounts of material. I'm drying up a lot of water at the moment, using sponges. I'm left with areas with a deep layer of sand and sandstone on top. I want to keep alot of this for the finishing touches to the city as well as building a small perimeter wall, around my landclaim. The line of cobble is ok to begin with, to mark the boundary, but i always like to replace it eventually with somthing less ugly. As all my chests are fast filling with sand, i decided to start a small section of wall, after playing around with the design, to start using some of it up.

Day 220 to 226 (20th to 26th February)

Two squares completed, this week. I told you things would slow down now. I'm now doing the water areas. I'm having 2 waterfalls falling into the chasm and i have to be careful to sponge up just the right areas and not spoil the water i want to keep. This is a slow process but it will be worth it in the end. I'm even thinking of replacing one of the waterfalls with a dam. It's all down to comeing up with a design i'm happy with. My good friend KKing popped over this week, making sure i was still ok and hadn't fallen down a hole or somthing. He asked me when it would all be finished. No idea, is the simple answer. I'm guessing its going to take a whole year, so probably this Summer.

Day 227 to 233 (27th February to 4th March)

An eventful week. A much awaited Minecraft update teases us all with upper half-blocks and upside down steps. Of course, the server isnt ready for the update yet, but it wont be long before we are buying Jungle-tree saplings or building ridiculously tall towers. Only 1 square completed this week. I didnt get much done , this weekend. Temporary whitelisting was introduced and i had to wait awhile to get my permission. I think it was an emergency measure, after a cyber-attack on saturday. It was amusing to watch but i'm sure it was a headache for the Ops and Mods. Normal service will be resumed shortly.

Day 234 to 240 (5th to 11th March)

The build has reached the 8 Month stage, with square 47 completed. I spent some time on NineteenGiraffes claim in Build. He needed some ideas for a couple of buildings and i helped out by building somthing in Creative, for him to check out. Unfortunatly, he cant recreate it in Build yet, because of the height limit. But, Yennage assures us that the next server update is just around the corner.

DalD240.1.jpgDalD240.2.jpgDalD240.3.jpgDalD240.4.jpg

Day 241 to 247 (12th to 18th March)

....And the server is updated. New block types and the much awaited hight limit increase is within our grasp. Yennage even discovers some Jungle-tree leaves on his land in Historic, after a biome change, and in no time has saplings available for a very small price. They are quickly snapped up by all. (I manage to get 12 of them). They are not available in the shop, yet, but that will soon change. A special thanks goes out this week to NineteenGiraffes. As a thankyou for the work i did for him, last week, he made a start of square 74 on my grid, saving me alot of digging. I, myself completed square 61. I also worked on a design for Nineteen's castle, but i fear i may have gone over the top with the size of it. I'll see what he thinks of the mock-up in Creative, the next time he logs in.

Day 248 to 254 (19th to 25th March)

Yet another update of minecraft; and the server is updated within 24 hours, too. There are more new block types, including a sexy sandstone block. At this rate i'll have to replace half of Dalaran's blocks when it comes to furnishing all the buildings. Spent alot of time working on designs for NineteenGiraffes, but we are almost done. Again, i'd like to thank him for more digging, this week. Between us, we managed sqaures 18, 74 and half of 17.

Day 255 to 261 (26th March to 1st April)

I managed to complete 2 squares, this week; numbers 16 and 17. I also spent some time helping NineteenGiraffes on his designs. A Tower i designed was far too big for his castle so he has invited me to build it as a seperate building on his plot of land in Arid. Ill make a start next week. As well as all the digging, i continued the perimeter wall around my plot to use up some of this sand and sandstone ive got.

DalD261.6.jpgDalD261.1.jpgDalD261.2.jpgDalD261.3.jpgDalD261.4.jpgDalD261.5.jpg

Day 262 to 268 (2nd to 8th April)

More digging this week. I should rename my build. "First, there was Limoman's Hill. Now, there is Limoman's Hole!"
Two squares completed this week (30,31). A mystery guest helped out again. Thanks to him/her. (I'm guessing it was Nineteen). I designed somthing for Kking1, this week. The fussy bugger wasn't happy with some aspects of it, so back to the drawingboard.

Footnote:for some reason, i am unable to upload images of this week's work.

Day 269 to 275 (9th to 15th April)

Here are the missing images from last weeks entry:

DalD268.1.jpgDalD268.2.jpgDalD268.3.jpg

Nine months into the build and a busy week. I've commited myself to five different projects at the moment. Dalaran, a couple for Kking and Kalio, one for Nineteen and finally, organising the next server bulding contest. I didn't complete a whole square, this week, just almost. Hopefully ill get two done my next week.

Day 276 to 282 (16th to 22nd April)

I completed 2 squares this week (32 and 44). I finished my build on Kkings and Kalios town, but have taken on a new project by helping out Richey and the gang on a special build in Capitol on the Build world. So, i'm just as busy as ever. Things are slow with Dalaran, but at least i'm picking up new ideas and building techniques from these other projects i'm working on. I'm hoping on adding alot of them to the city once the "hole" is finished.

DalD282.1.jpgDalD282.2.jpgDalD282.3.jpgDalD282.4.jpg

Day 283 to 289 (23rd to 29th April)

Another whole square completed, this week. I did find it a struggle to do, with all these extra projects. Ive nearly finished my tower on Nineteens land, the special group project for Capitol (which took most my time), is coming on great, and my secret build in Creative should be finished by next weekend. Kkings regional building design didnt get a look in, this week. And its his birthday today, too. Sorry Kking.
