Hey guys, this post is mostly directed towards faction owners and members but I've dropped it in Community as it potentially applies to any future faction members as well. Basically it's just a few general bits of info about the logistics of factions (I'm sure some of you are already very familiar with the workings etc. so apologies if there's nothing here you didn't already know).

-- Alliances between factions mean that the other faction cannot attack you and requires a member from both factions to enter a command to confirm it. Be warned! Alliance requests do NOT expire so if you send an alliance request the other faction can accept it 2 weeks later and catch you surprised. Users of the popular /f chat should note that the Pink chat can be read by all your allies, plot carefully! Also remember it only takes ONE faction to break the alliance and declare war so choose your allies carefully to avoid being caught off guard.

-- Members. Be vary careful who you appoint as a member of your faction, remember, adding a member gives them access to your chat, /f home and all your protected chests. As you can imagine, there's a lot of potential for that to be exploited so appoint your members carefully and choose only those who you trust. In addition to this, be EXTRA careful who you appoint as a moderator, these guys can add or remove people from your faction at will so be VERY careful in who you trust. Remember, there can be only one faction admin.

-- Open Factions are a very risky way to do things, when your faction is first set up it will be set to CLOSED by default, don't be fooled by the wording, people can still join your faction, it just means they require an invite before they are added as a member. This is usually the best way to run your factions as it prevents random people simply joining and raiding your stuff. If you have accidentally set your faction to open, turn it back to invite only with the command /f open off

-- Power is important to your faction, be sure all your members are aware of this too, if your power level falls too low, your faction may start to lose land to rivals. Remember, deaths in PvE world will lose you power too!

-- Land is a valuable commodity for your faction but be careful not to overstretch yourself by claiming too much! Even in a faction with around 10 people, just 5 or 6 deaths in quick succession can seriously hurt your power level and cause large areas of your land to become up for grabs. Also, although land must be claimed from the outside first, be sure to check your base to ensure you don't have anything built in an area which isn't claimed, after all, it's an easy mistake to make!

Useful commands:

/f help # -- Useful!
/f home -- warp to the faction home (won't work if enemies are nearby)
/f power -- shows your current power level (+10 = max, -10 = min, power means land!)
/f show FACTION -- shows all members of the selected faction, their power level, enemies, allies and land they've claimed.
/f join FACTION -- request to join a faction
/f leave FACTION -- leave a faction
/f c a -- change chat mode to alliance
/f c f -- faction only chat mode
/f c p -- change back to public chat
/f map -- shows the map of faction claimed land near you

Hope this helps!

Very informative! New faction members should read this before entering or creating a faction.

Thanks yen. Here is a question. If an enemy is able to take land do they have to take the outside first?
Or can they start at the outside and go straight into the center? Hope that makes sense.

Land can only be claimed if your amount of claimed land is greater than your power and must be claimed from the edge, I've added a small section to the original post outlining this too

/f show <username>
This shows which faction said player is in and all the info on that faction.
