I think a small 3x3 square in the center of the PvP brief room would be hilarious for viewing the jailed players. so they can sit there in shame :)

As much as I would like to throw snowballs and mock the people in jail, nobody should be doing that. Also, mocking the people in jail should result in a jail.
 
the reson the jail was made our of view was because of the mocking that they would get. should we move spawn elsewhere where no one can see even their names?

personally if someone is down their let them be and serve their time and then forget about it. warp pvp was made as a stageing area for the before parties for pvp and so people can look at the nether without it actually being in server.

before jail was moved it was in a complete brick box where no one could see them. we like the non visible thing.. users will serve there time acordingly. un-mocked.
 
Maybe jail should be more than just a box. It should be an endless maze, promising cake at the end.
 
I agree with fluffy.
Jail should probably still be under spawn, but dug down near bedrock in a similar nether environment.

Making it anymore than just a box possibly goes against it being a jail, and will probably make it more fun and bearable for them down there. The idea of the box was to make them sit in a small area to think about what they've done, giving them a choice to carry on doing what they were doing and get a ban or play nicely and enjoy THE BEST MINECRAFT SERVER.
 
Fact one, jail is a punishment IN ITSELF. Mocking someone who is already mad, and has already receives punishment, which is GOING there in the first place, is like pouring salt on an open wound, and then stabbing it with a dirty needle for fun.

But, on the other hand, mocking can be a little payback from the victim of said jailbird. We must also realize that he/she can read your chat messages, but can not reply. Like having your hands tied behind your back while being beaten. And if, no, WHEN, he/she is released , their view on you is forever tarnished, which can come back to bite you on the back when you really need said Person. Bitten hard.

I think we should either A: make such jail time look as the player had simply disconnected. Thus would be the same as a temporary ban though. They are practically the same thing, exept the jail allows u to stay online. And then the mockers come. I once mocked a jailbird once. Think about it now, I tped to there to do something I could have done at
My HOME CLAIM. So we don't need glass, not at all! We just need a more mock free system. Like making it look like u got dced. Or making the mockers unexpectedly go to jail afterwards. We might need to make it more roomy in there though.
 
What youre saying isnt possible atm. We cant customize the plugin to do that. You would need a seperate plugin for a fake logout. More plugins means more server esources wasted and longer wait times between updates.
 
We appreciate the ideas that are being thrown around about the jail system, but the fact of the matter is that we do not have any plans to change the way the system works. As I said before, jail is a substitute for a temporary ban and should not be thought of in terms of novelty.
 
That little paradox reminds me of a Monty Python skit Paradox law, in which it is illegal to arrest a fellow police officer . Tell me if I'm wrong.

Anyway, the glass in the jail problem is no more than an ethical problem. Good or bad. So, as all ethical judgements should be made by the respected and most ethical of the bunch, which would be staticfactory/mrJangles. So we should stop squabbling over this and go back to building stuff that's so awesome that players won't want to get banned so badly, theyll behave. Of course I can not deny , there are idiots out there. We can't change that.
