Yup, that's in the works. It's called Minecraft Overviewer and I never got it working the first time. I've got it working now by' tunder jesus.

It's going to take some time, maybe a full day to get the first map to render. I'll let you know. It caches chunks so the second run shouldn't take much time at all, meaning I could possibly update every hour. And boom goes the dynamite.
 
You can also automate the process from what I read, so its strictly hands off.
 
its 1 command. batch + scheduled task = business. It outputs an HTML that I can copy to the web directory in the batch so it updates the site too.

I didn't use the zoom option in the first run so I'm not sure if it will zoom. The doc said it would take longer. I'll set the zoom on the second run.
