How to rollback from 1.8 to 1.7_3

Hey guys its master umm i also am playing with my friend on another server thats 1.8 will i now be able to play with him if i switch to 1.7?

Hey dude, in order to do this all you gotta do is switch back to 1.8 by following the steps in the first post, then to switch between 1.8 and 1.7 just rename the one you wanna play to minecraft.jar
 
It would appear i am getting a black screen after login... I have no texture packs.... Any help or pointers (i tried this on a freshly installed version
 
Were you running a texture pack prior to the rollback? if so switch back to default before renaming your minecraft file

Hi, I'm also new and have been have the same problem. 2 questions. How can you tell if the file is unzipped? And also, How do you "unzip" the file?

Hey dude, file's not zipped or anything, so you can just copy and paste it straight over. However, I believe I saw you on the server just now so I'm guessing you got it all figured out :)
 
I tried installing SPC, but it failed. The installer said it had made a backup, but the backup doesn't work.
Now I updated it to 1.8, replaced the .jar with the one provided by Yen, and it still does not work.
I keep getting blackscreen after login.

Any ideas?
 
Try deleting the contents of bin, heading into MC and then updating, you can then try another rollback which should hopefully work, also remember if you're using an HD texture pack my jar will cause a blackscreen.
 
Trouble

Hey, I've been having some trouble finding the application support folder on my mac. Any ideas?
 
If you're on Lion, click on the "Go" dropdown menu, and select "Go to folder". Then type in "/Users/yourusername/Library/" (replacing yourusername with your user name).

I have a freshly downloaded vinilla client and when ever i change the Jar to 1.7_3 i get a black screen after login
