Our shop / "economy" seems to be rather crappy since our 1.0 update...

I'm just curious as to whether or not there is anything in the works for a dynamic economy with automated fluxuating prices based on buying and selling.

The shop has an infinite amount of resources, and therefore is not dynamic. And with the resources available in minecraft, most other things are pretty much infinite also. I think we should stick with the static shop.

Trading between players is where the dynamic part is.

Agreed, also PvP is a great way to get some good items.

I think it would be cool to get rid of the /shop.... But I would end up missing it...

A way to make 24/7 player-made shops could be intersesting. Although it's hard since the buy/sell diffrence of the shop is so low.

A shop that is totally dependent on what people sell or buy would be awesome.

I saw we set up the Mall of Minecraft Addicts in the build world in the region of Capital. Sounds like a new community project!

this is unfeasable, since minecraft is a world of unlimited resource pretty well, so everything in the shop will eventually be priced down near zero.

we are going to be sticking with a static shop for the foreseeable future.

Okay :)

I think a mall would be nice community project in the capital though... +1 YMMD

A mall project already failed.

It was determined that the failure came from the facts that humans need sleep, and therefore most people can't be there 24/7, and can't maintain a virtual business at that pace (all their online time) for more than a few weeks.

Eventually, people want to do something else than waiting on people to buy/sell stuff.

A mall has so many disadvantages, yet no real advantage, except maybe on price.
Then again, did you really save caps if you could have saved litterally minutes using a simple command?
No chat, no bartering, no trouble.

Don't get me wrong, I love the black market. Yet I don't feel there needs to be a centralized location for the black market trade to take place. Bartering via private message is way better, and allows me to barter while doing something else, then if the deals falls short, I didn't tp for nothing.

I just need to state in chat that I'm buying gunpowder, and everytime, I get a few /msg from people willing to sell.

Dynamic shop, as Bird said, wouldn't sustainably last long, and eventually make everyone angry.
