Messaging problem

Hey guys,
I know I'm not the only one to experience this problem but I'm still curious. I go to send a message or reply to one and it sends it to all players online. If anyone knows what's causing this or how it can be avoided I'd love to know. Here's a screenshot:

always type full names not one letter of a name. thats your issue. when you type one letter it spams everyone.

I always type the first part of the name and press tab.

"finch" Tab "Finchig"

"noob" Tab "noobly_doobly"

For that message I typed /msg alien so it shouldn't have gone out to everyone. It also happens with /r so it has nothing to do with my character imput.

I've never had it before and not many people have reported it.
The only time i had something similar was when i missed the name and did something like "/msg i was playing portal" then it sent a message "was playing portal" to everyone with 'i' in their name.

Be careful with spaces in commands.

It may send it to everybody if you fat-fingered it properly.


The best course of action is to quickly excuse yourself in public chat, so you don't get flooded with angry responses.

that looked like you typed /m i never remember this in historic

notice how you are missing "I" at the start, and everyone it sent to had an "i" in their name

are you sure you are using /r not /m? its easy to make a typo like that

That could've been it, I wish I checked the last typed message at the time but you are probably right...
