Mojang is now seriously considering an overall account for Mojang products. This was mentioned very vaguely at Minecon 2011.

The idea is that you use this Mojang account (where the username would be your e-mail address) to sign in to Minecraft, to Scrolls and to Cobalt. After that you would proceed to choosing which profile you'd like to play as—for Minecraft this would correspond to today's accounts (premium status, display name, skin etc).

We are planning on rolling out the service with Cobalt some time this month and then fully integrate it with Minecraft early next year.

Sounds like a cool idea as long as it doesn't allow anyone to change their minecraft name at some point as it will screw with the current bans etc. and cause quite a few problems.

Agreed 100%. I highly doubt I'll be playing any other Mojang products, though i sincerely hope they prove me wrong.

I really hope they don't... Then we may have to go to IP bans...which is far worst in my view

As long as our minecraft accounts stay premium, or our possibly future mojang accounts transfer the premium status, I don't really care.
