Well, I coulnt find any place to rant and rave, so I decided to post it here. In my community, we have a program called patch. They apparently put some tables in a park, and some people wrote thier names in it. Thats apparently vandalism? First off, these tables are made of WOOD. Just sand or paint the damn things! Its not a big deal. Second, I know the people that have names on the tables, and some of them would NEVER do something as stupid as putiing thier own NAME (first and last) in a table. Who would do that? Thats just asking to get caught. Am I also the only one who realizes the names are all in the same hand writing? I dont really think its a big deal, but thats just my opinion. Tell me what you guys think.

It isn't apparently vandalism, it IS...
Lets say you paid for these benches and then people were to instantly write all over it, would you like it? because I sure wouldn't

Doesn't make things look very nice.

imo that's definitely vandalism, this patch program sounds like some sort of local charitable organisation and the chances are a lot of people worked really hard to raise the funds to place these benches etc so imagine how disheartening it would be for them if someone came and wrote all over them (especially as they placed them for the benefit of everyone).

As for sanding/painting them, hiring someone to sand them down/paint them isn't free and the people behind the project will rightfully ask "why should we?" and "what's the point?" so although it's certainly not a BIG deal its certainly an annoyance for a lot of people who were only trying to help

Personally I hope they find who's responsible and make them sort the problem out

I agree, that is vandalism, defacing property apparently has some sort of lure that brings these very foolish kids in.
Do people ever stop and ask WHY!
That seems like something totally uncalled for and unnecessary and would piss me off alot if it was my money that went to those benches, or physical labour, or any part of my efforts.
I'm already mad as it is, even though I wont see them ever in my life, what about the people who would have benefitted from them.
Definitely seems like the work of some kids with IQ's in the single digits.

The biggest problem here is that they are spending money on things not needed. This is a kids park we are talking about, and they took out a perfectly good merry go round for these tables. This park is in an area refered to locally as "The Villiage". Its one of the oldest spots in town, and could use alot of refurbisment. Instead money is wasted on tables. Theres grafitti alreeady in the park, so did they expect a diffrent result? I know its not right to vandalize the tables, but there are more important things to worry about. We alredy have park benches/tables, why do we need new ones? The old ones could have been refurbished. Its hard to explain if you dont live here, but there are hundreds of other things we need to focus on.

I can understand what you're saying, but vandalising the unneccesary new things doesn't change anything, in fact more money then has to be spent to paint them like in this case.
I'm sure if you wanted them to change things, they have some sort of suggestion area where you can put forward your ideas.

What area is this in?
And no matter what the money is spent on, there still seems to be no rationale behind the vanadlizing
Just because there are other issues to deal with doesnt mean this has to be done to bring the attention over
