I thought disguises weren't supposed to be allowed because of EULA.

Well the EULA has always stated you can't make money from MC yet has never been enforced.
The changes they stated haven't even been officially updated on their EULA, they were instead spread out through tweets and a poorly organised post on their homepage. They also haven't bothered to clear up a lot of questions people had from the Q+A.
If what they're now saying completely contradicts the EULA that is visible on their website then it is invalid and doesn't need to be followed.
